About Me
My name is Georgie, and I have been practicing yoga for 11 years and teaching for 3 years.
During this time I have spent 8 months in India studying at the Yoga Study Centre (Rishikesh, Iyengar), the Green Hotel (Rishikesh, Iyengar) and with "Vijay" in McLeod Ganj (Ashtanga).
Since moving to Cornwall, my main teacher has been Bridget Woods Kramer (Anusara) www.omshop.com. I have also studied with Duncan Hulin (Devon School of Yoga), Glenn Ceresoli (Senior Iyengar), Judi Sweeting and Tig Whattler (Senior Iyengar) and Richard and Kirsten Agar Ward (Senior Iyengar.) For information on local Iyengar teachers see www.swiyengaryoga.ukf.net.
I have also attended teacher training with Elizabeth Connolly and Edward Clark of Tripsichore, www.tripsichore.com. I hold a belief that there is only one yoga and as such I attempt to fuse together what I have learnt from all of these teachers into a dynamic, flowing class, taught, hopefully with a sense of humour.
As an interest in yoga leads to an interest in meditation, I try to meditate as much as a busy life allows. I have sat courses in Buddhist mediation at Tushita Mediation Centre (India) and I regularly sit and serve on Vipassana mediation courses.
My interest in bodywork has also led me to other courses. I am currently studying for a diploma in Adult Nursing, due to finish September 2008. I hold a diploma in Anatomy and Physiology and several qualifications in massage: ITEC diploma in Swedish Massage, BRSNT diploma in Deep Tissue Massage and Certificate in Indian Head Massage.
For more details on these treatments see massage.
